Medium-size provincial city Akmola, which means “White Tomb” used to have about 32 advantages over the Capital of Kazakhstan – Almaty. Some of the advantages were not being overpopulated and overbuilt and having areas for development. In addition, Akmola is closer to the geographic center of the country and has better ecological conditions.. So, love it or hate it, there is a new capital of Kazakhstan – Astana, former Akmola. Astana became the capital in 1997. This is the city of ambitious architecture that absorbed billions of dollars in its construction. But time showed that the game is worth the candle – many Kazakhs are proud with their new capital, it amazes and remains in your memory as the city of future.
Astana is cold Northeren Capital not in vain as eddy north winds often blow here. Sometimes in summer it's too hot.
It's also a well known fact about Astana that in 1999 by the decision of UNESCO it was awarded the title of World City .
On the most interesting places to visit is Duman entertainment complex – an oceanarium, a 3D movie theater, bowling, a night club, a casino, a hotel, cafes and restaurants and an indoor aquapark and many other things. But generally speaking everything is or will be remarkable in this city as long as authorities do not grudge money for its beautifying. You'll be able to make sure of that everywhere starting with the well-known Baiterek and finishing with the very streets decorated with nice and often very unusual sculptures.
