Baiterek - Symbol of New Capital

Bayterek
Baiterek

Baiterek is said to be the symbol of new capital, as new capital
is said to be the symbol of the Independence of Kazakhstan. In Kazakh Baiterek means “poplar”, this tower is made from metal, glass, and concrete.

The height of this construction is 105 metre. The ball on the top
is made from glass that changes its color depending on the sun light.

Inside the ball, on the height of 97 metre as a token of the date when Astana became a capital, there is a hall, standing where you can observe the city in construction.

Representatives of seventeen world confessions gathered in Astana in 2003 in order to bless the land and people of Kazakhstan. These blessings, as a sign of international recognition of tolerance, are embodied in so called “Bata” composition. At Bayterek's hall you can also make a wish.

Baiterek is situated on the city square on the Left Bank of Ishym River.
