Astana Major Sights

When visiting Astana, one cannot expect finding historical attractions there. For almost two centuries the city was a regional center and differed little from other provincial towns. Only after having gained the status of the capital in 1997, there were started building the constructions that have become symbols of Kazakhstan’s capital, along with modern business centers and expensive hotels.
These attractions are not older than 10 years. They reflect the aspirations of the Kazakh people to the future. Advanced modern technologies of construction and design have been used here, and the idea of the close connection between people and the country's leadership was embodied, as well.
First and foremost, it is worth mentioning the monument “Baiterek”, and the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, which were created by famous British architect Norman Foster. The symbolism and singularity of these buildings are fascinating.
The project "Map of Kazakhstan – Atameken” and the Circus are also very curious. The Presidential Palace "Ak Orda” confirms the openness of government: tourist tours are being regularly held in the acting President's residence.
Astana is growing, and one can expect more new unique attractions in the capital of Kazakhstan.
